90-92 (10-2000) The full-bodied 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits a beautiful, deep rubypurple color, as well as a sweet, seductive bouquet of creme de cassis intermixed with flowers and licorice. Impressively constituted, with loads of glycerin, low acidity, and moderate tannin, it should drink well young and age for 12+ years Un de meilleurs producteurs de Chateauneuf du Pape rouge. Château Font de Michelle
Font de Michelle
A unique characteristic of the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation: multi-varietal blending. 13 grape varieties are authorized in their different colors: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Picpoul, Terret, Counoise, Muscardin, Vaccarèse, Picardan, Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc. Red wines At Font de Michelle, Grenache is king, with nearly 70% of the area planted with this variety. Black Grenache is exceptional when harvested at maturity with low yields, giving the wine richness, substance, and typicity. Syrah and Mourvèdre bring great aromatic complexity and excellent aging potential. Cinsault, Terret, Counoise, and Muscardin complete this blend. The red Châteauneuf du Pape wines from Font de Michelle are rich and elegant with aromas of red and black fruits (Morello cherry, blackcurrant, raspberry, blackberry), spices (pepper, cinnamon), and with age, notes of truffle, bay leaf, leather, and light tobacco. Wines for long-term aging. White wines White Grenache, Clairette, Bourboulenc, and Roussanne compose the white Châteauneuf du Pape from Font de Michelle. This blend produces dry, fruity white wines with complex aromas of exotic fruits and citrus, full-bodied and elegant. With age, they develop honeyed and toasted notes. While they can be enjoyed in their early years, they are nevertheless wines for aging.
