Abbey Morgeot is a vineyard located in Chassagne Montrachet on the CĂ´te de Beaune. The vineyard spreads over 9 hectares, spread over the communes of Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet, mainly Premiers Crus (6.5 hectares). Since their arrival in Burgundy in the eighteenth century, the family MacMahon has operated vineyards in the CĂ´te de Beaune. But it was in the 1960s that the family estate Chassagne-Montrachet became the pride of Philip MacMahon, 4th Duc de Magenta, descendant of the Dukes of Burgundy. This passion for wine culture, Philippe de MacMahon was able to transmit to his wife before dying in January 2002. Today, the Duchess of Magenta has become a true cellar master: she continues to advance Abbey Morgeot while improving production techniques to offer wines that reflect the best of all of the colors of this fabulous terroir is what primarily motivates her today. Today the emphasis is placed on the mechanical work of the vines, the aim being to avoid any treatment with herbicides. The heavy soils of Clos de la Chapelle Abbey Morgeot makes the passage of the Straddle extremely difficult if not impossible in wet weather. .
