Valentine’s Day is just a couple of days away.

No matter what your opinion is of Valentine’s Day (and let’s admit that this holiday elicits many different reactions in many different people such as excitement, joy, dread, or indifference) perhaps the best strategy is to think of it in its most general terms: an occasion to celebrate the people in your life whom you love. In any case, it’s a good excuse to have a celebration, open a good bottle of wine and enjoy good company.

To your love, consider giving a grand cru wine as your Valentine gift:

Mouton Rothschild, Ducru Beaucaillou or the wine  with the heart already on the label, Calon Ségur. Or a fine Champagne such as Dom Perignon, Krug, Salon, Perrier Jouet, etc.  It shows good taste, creates a convivial atmosphere and can mark the occasion in a unique way. Choose a bottle from a significant year to the both of you: wedding anniversary, the year you met, a child’s birth, etc.

Even if you are single there is no need to dismiss Valentine’s Day as a fluffy, romantic holiday.
