Overshadowed by the notoriety of other years, it must be said that the 1985 vintage is one of the great vintages of the years < a href=”https://www.sodivin.com/304-vin-1980″>1980. Marked by severe winter cold and strong summer heat, it: gave birth to wines for keeping.

Bordeaux

It is a grandiose vintage, representative of the fullness and superiority of this vineyard. Better balanced and constituted than the 1983, 1985 is above all very regular. The month of September is particularly beautiful, it is the hottest and driest month ever recorded in Bordeaux . The reds are complex, aromatic, to drink and to keep. In white, it is the vintage which marks the mastery of vinification, settling and temperatures. Perfect maturity is the origin of frank and balanced whites. The sweet wines did not shine: the weather, too dry, did not allow the development of noble rot.

Bourgogne

Despite the January frost, the idyllic summer saves the day in Margaux. If the January frost hit the Coast hard, destroying 250 hectares of vines and raising fears of the worst, the summer proved providential. Ideal temperatures allowed optimal ripening of the grapes, spared from diseases. The harvest took place in healthy conditions and produced a reasonable volume of wine. Despite winter losses, the Margaux appellation seems to have escaped the worst thanks to an exceptionally favorable summer.

Supported by subtle tannins, knowing how to shelter them under a bouquet of blackberry and raspberry, the reds have lots of color and fire. They can compete with 19901990. They have high aging potential. The whites have a perfect balance, fougere and fresh almond, finish and elegance. The structure is slender on the base of honey and toasted almond. The vintage is a picky eater.

Champagne

The limited yield allowed the Champagne region to breathe again after 1984. The champagne is floral, vinous and elegant. Although it is a small crop, it is excellent, mature and well swollen. The wines are perfectly balanced, elegant and fruity, with good acidity and a good degree of alcohol.

Rhône

The 1985 vintage is infinitely generous and endowed with a breathtaking amount. The quality is very good. The wines are rich, supple and concentrated. So, they are also great guards.
