Three vintages that make your head spin

Over the years, we are fortunate to see vintages and mythical wines that are still etched in history. Talk about Mouton Rothschild 1945 to an experienced amateur, there is no doubt that the latter will recognize the extraordinary character of such a wine. He will probably never have tasted it but it is thus, there are wines that reach posterity as some major characters of humanity.

Château d’Yquem 1937, Château Cheval Blanc 1947 and Château de Fargues 1967 are one of those.

In fact, 1937, 1947 and 1967 are the origin of exceptional crus in Bordeaux.

In Bordeaux, 1937 resounds in the minds like the great year of the sweet-witted ones. The good conditions of harvest allowed to concoct wines mellow, opulent, full of aromas and delightfully persistent.

If 1945 was the year of the Medoc, 1947 was that of the Libourne. There is a constant in this vintage: this intense color, this aromatic power of candied fruits, these over-ripened notes, this richness, opulence in the nose, this unctuosity ... Cheval Blanc 1947 is a monument, combining power and finesse, complexity and delicacy.

1967 is the kind of vintage that falls into oblivion, and what a pity! Although uneven, this year offers wines that are very well made and generally more affordable than other vintages. In the Sauternes the quality is excellent. We obtain structured and rich wines, offering a very good guard.
