(2-1995) Other tasters were more excited by this wine than I. While it was unquestionably excellent, I thought the lavish quantities of toasty new oak still dominated the wine - even after 38 years! It revealed a solid, medium ruby color, a cedary, vanillin, smoky, frightfully oaky nose, delicate, medium-bodied flavors, and a sweet, ripe finish. The wine appeared to gain strength in the glass and broaden on the palate. Although it was very good, the 1957 was not one of the stars of the tasting.
