Dark crimson. Some ripe red fruit on the nose. Polished tannins and there is energy here. This sample seems to have a more convincing core than yesterday’s sample tasted at the château. Good level of interest and detail here. Even if the level of acidity is higher than usual and the tannins obviously took some taming. Sweeter than some.

Château Smith Haut Lafitte
Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Château Smith Haut-Lafitte is a 68-hectare wine estate located in Martillac, Gironde. Situated in the Pessac-Léognan AOC, it is classified as a grand cru in the Graves wine classification. The terroir consists of Günzian gravel, with vines averaging 30 years old. For red wines, the grape composition is 34% Merlot, 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. For white wines, it's 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris, and 5% Sémillon. The planting density ranges from 7,500 to 10,000 vines per hectare. The vineyard covers 56 hectares, with 45 hectares for red wine and 11 hectares for white wine. Without a doubt, the exemplary elegance of Smith Haut Lafitte's red wines and the sophisticated bouquet of its world-renowned white wine deserve this daily care.
