Although some are bold enough to rate the 2000s as highly, if not more highly, than the excellent 1999s, while this certainly applies to the white burgundies, the consensus of opinion is that the reds are more variable. Quality, as always, depends on the level of pruning and, at harvest time, selection. There were few vinification problems. Generally the ripe tannins are lower than in the 1999s.
