The 1986 offers up an extraordinary nose of smoky oak and plummy fruit. Concentrated and powerful, with abundant tannins, this may be the most structured Le Pin yet made. Medium to full-bodied, firm yet rich and expansive, this wine will benefit from another year or two in the cellar.
This has always been a classic-quality Le Pin, and it's holding wonderfully. Majestic. Very fresh, with dried cherry and mineral aromas. Full and silky, with a long, long finish. Loads of freshness and structure, yet refined.
An extraordinary, sweet, velvety, mulberry-rich character; fullish and fleshy.
18.(9-2002). Mid-crimson with an initial hint of mossiness on the nose giving way to a rich sweetness so pronounced it's almost bloody, meaty. Big, thick, sweet, then chewy. Sweeter and gentler than Petrus.
(6-2001). Dark red color. Good intensity. Evolved. 1st Nose Net. Medium intensity. Discreet. Spicy. Notes of curry and new wood! Agitation. A bit more more animal. Clean and soft attack, developing on a very fruity structure, present but light tannins. There is a very fine and silky tannic grain. Long finish always very sweet and subtle. Superb wine, fine and original.
