Expert's opinions

(6-2008). Thick and sweet and actually rather austere still. Long. Intense. Mineral. More Médoc-like than the Ch Lafleur 1982 tasted alongside. Quite lush with notes of gunpowder somehow. Round. Smoky. Some right-bank bloody character. .

Jean-Marc Quarin November - 2006

. Dark, evolved red color. Intense nose, still fruity, animal, becoming truffled when decanted. Touch of spice and caramel. But it is especially when swirled that it takes flight, becoming very intense and complex with a creamy nuance. The entry on the palate is extremely smooth. Silky, the wine glides, very spicy, very fruity and powerful. It finishes silky, long and noble. Great length with flavors of cedar and a hint of orange. A delight. Drink before 2025. The tasting took place after 1 hour 30 minutes of decanting. .

Petrus

Petrus is one of the most emblematic and sought-after wines of the Pomerol appellation, occupying a special place in the Bordeaux wine landscape. Unlike the great classified growths of the Médoc, Pomerol has no official classification, but Pétrus has established itself over time as the absolute reference of the appellation, recognized for the singularity of its terroir and the exceptional consistency of its wines.

The Petrus vineyard rests on a unique plateau of clay-ferruginous soils, dominated by a high proportion of blue clay, rare in Bordeaux. This terroir gives the wines a dense structure, remarkable depth and an immediately recognizable identity. The grape variety is almost exclusively composed of Merlot, a grape that finds here an expression of rare intensity.

The international renown of Petrus was built in the 20th century, notably under the impetus of remarkable figures who shaped its style and reputation. Petrus wines are distinguished by their richness, silky texture and exceptional aging potential. Among the emblematic vintages Petrus 1961, Petrus 1982, Petrus 1989, Petrus 1990, Petrus 2000, Petrus 2005, Petrus 2009, Petrus 2010, Petrus 2011, Petrus 2016, Petrus 2017, Petrus 2018, regularly cited among the greatest wines of Bordeaux.
