Jean-Marc Quarin May - 2012
Jean-Marc Quarin
This wine renews its performance of 2009 when it was first out of the 50 biggest Bordeaux of the vintage. I'm surprised myself to prefer it to 1998. However, Denis Durantou makes the same observation today about the Clinet Church. The 1999 are delicious to drink right now. Evolved color of medium intensity. Medium aromatic nose, fresh, young, fruity, liquorice with a hint of crème fraîche. Suave and tight mouth developing deep and complex in the middle with a lot of taste and very fine tannins. Grand finale rising and complex. A delight right now.

Jeannie Cho Lee August - 2015

A gorgeous wine that is more accessible and open than the 1996 vintage. The palate is intense and layered with sweet cherry and plum accented by black truffle, leather and Pu'er tea leaves. This is a generous vintage that is enjoyable now with layers of flavors, wonderful balance and a long finish. Enjoy its mouth-filling flavors and ripe, velvety tannins. Despite its approachability, this wine has a long life ahead - it will easily age for a few more decades.

A pretty, fruity red with beautiful tobacco, berry and cedar. Medium-bodied, with good soft tannins and a pretty finish.

Very rich and spicy, this wine earns its special status in this vintage. Gloriously concentrated and hedonistic. Long and rich - very well done. Huge pleasure promised.

(4-2002) This wine is turning out much in the style of such wonderful Petrus vintages as 1967 and 1971. Although not as outstanding as either the 1998 or 2000, it displays beautiful intensity and finesse in a more evolved style than one normally expects from this estate. The wine has a dense, nearly opaque rubypurple color, sweet black cherry, mulberry, truffle-infused fruit, full body, low acidity, admirable purity, and sweet tannin.

The Petrus estate derives its name from a village called "Petrus". Its history is recent and yet this wine is already a legend. Throughout the nineteenth century the area belonged to the Arnaud family. In 1925, a woman from the Libourne region, Ms. Loubat, takes shares in the property. Twenty years later she is the sole owner. Understanding that the wines of the Medoc sell for more than wines of Pomerol, in particular her wines, she did everything she could to take advantage of such a promising terroir.  In a few decades the myth was born. In 1961, Mrs Lacoste and Mr. Lignac, niece and nephew of Mrs. Loubat  inherit the estate. The vineyard is based on the highest hill of the designation, culminating at an altitude of 40 meters. The soil consists mainly of clay which  is well suited to Merlot which constitutes 95% of the plantings. The 12 hectares are the subject of constant work and a constant obsession with détail.  It is thought that Pétrus is more accessible to tasting than  some of its illustrious colleagues..
