Michael Broadbent July - 2001

In 1994 rich, soft, easy and attractive. Most recently: good, deep colour; lovely nose, touch of strawberry and pepper; chunky fruit, mouth-drying tannins. Nicer than expected and much preferred to very recent vintages.

Dark red color. Purple. Good intensity. Nose of good intensity. Fruity. Vanilla. Licorice. Rather fine. Soft and fruity attack, developing on a structure of good intensity, juicy and fruity, which evolves on flavors brought by the wood, towards a finish with well-balanced tannicity, a lively zest, chocolatey and of very good length, very flavorful. The hallmark of the cru is clearly found in the finish.

Full-bodied and delicious from start to finish, showing good depth of fruit and lovely harmony. Exciting flavors of black olive, wet earth and blackberry. Smoky, silky finish.

Château Pavie
Château Pavie

In Bordeaux, it is now established that it was on the slopes of Pavie and Ausone that the vine was first planted in the Saint Emilion region in the 4th century. However, it wasn't until the 19th century that Pavie's true wine-growing vocation truly took shape. At that time, the estate was divided among several families of owners, including the Tallemans and the Pigasses. In 1954, during the official classification of Saint Emilion wines, Château Pavie achieved the rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé B. The arrival of Gérard Perse at Pavie in 1998 would mark the beginning of a tremendous leap forward, now endorsed unanimously by the wine world. In 2012, Château Pavie obtained the top of the classification among the Premiers Grands Crus Classés A.
