Maturity: 2011 - 2033
Grape variety / Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 81%, Merlot 19% (variations are possible from one vintage to another)
Tasting comment: The color is an intense garnet with brilliant reflections. The Cabernet Sauvignon here expresses all its depth and finesse with aromas of vanilla, bitter almond, nutmeg but also, with aeration, subtle mineral notes. Very supple on the palate, this Mouton Rothschild presents perfect harmony on a linear structure which combines robust tannins with a pleasant minty freshness. The finish is complex and ends with spicy notes and very ripe fruit. A great success for this vintage, where the blend takes advantage of the best of the two grape varieties at full maturity: the body and complexity of Cabernet and the aromatic depth of Merlot.

Mouton Rothschild is arguably one of the best-known wine estates in the world. In AOC Pauillac, since 1973 it has been First Classified Growth in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855.
Bought in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild, Brane Mouton became legendary under the name of Château Mouton-Rothschild. It is with the advent of Baron Philippe de Rothschild that Mouton really becomes the monumental 1er Cru that it is today. Mouton Rothschild 1945 and 1982 are among their finest vintages. In addition to the construction of cellars and buildings, and the accession to Premier Cru status, it is the passion of a lifetime rediscovered in action by this exceptional man.
Classified as a Second Classified Growth in 1855, Château Mouton Rothschild has been a Premier Classified Growth since 1973. Its motto "First not then, second not deign, Mouton am" thus became "First I am, second I was, Mouton does not change".
The elegance and magic of this wine have thus charmed the greatest contemporary artists who, each year, illustrate with their art the priceless wines of Mouton by creating an original work on the label. Château D'Armailhac and Château Clerc Milon follow in the footsteps of this quality concern of the Rothschild family.
The great vintages of Château Mouton Rothschild are: 1994, 1989, 1986, 1985, 1983, 1982, 1970, 1966, 1962, 1961, 1959, 1955, 1953, 1949, 1947, 1945

(05-2008) Expressive, spicy nose with a core of black fruit, blackcurrant and rasperry, accompanied by a cedar note. The fleshy, full bodied palate is well balanced and structured by solid tannins. A successful vintage and an outstanding wine.
(01-2010) The wood element is important here, but it is based on a firm Cabernet Sauvignon structure, dry but rich tannins. The wine is a great success for the vintage, giving sweetness, ripe fruit that only shows light extraction, and dark plum and berry flavors. The feeling is of polished fruit and wood, rounded but always dense.
(03-2020) It has gained polish, balance and sensuality through expansion, the wood notes round off nicely, the whole thing appears dense and fruity, homogeneous and coherent. Beautiful wine that will be great fun to drink young.
