A focused wine, with enough reserve of fruit to keep it going for a while. Light rosemary, black cherry and fruit aromas follow through on the palate, and smoky berry, toast and chocolate notes emerge on the finish. Start drinking now, but will improve with age.
A magnificient summer, one of the hottest and driest on record. The North and South were equally successful - the wines were initially rich and concentrated with hard tannins. If 1978, as it were, set the wheels in motion, 1983 sped the Rhône on its way. The reds are still drinking well.
