Jean-Marc Quarin June - 2023

Dark, intense and slightly evolved color. Intense nose, with ripe fruitiness. Aging bouquet. Black fruit. Creamy when shaken in the glass. Meticulous in the entry, suave in the middle, with class in the touch, the wine progresses between the middle and the finish. It ends long and very pleasant.

Wow! I must admit that I like 02 on the left bank, and in general Bordeaux off vintages but was quite sceptical here. Small Chateau in small vintage is usually not a formula that works well, but this is simply great, especially with food. Best Meyney I have had. Perfect bottle condition with in neck fill and the very top of the cork soaked. Still a dark garnet with a thin translucent rim. Beautiful nose with dark fruit and some soil, deep dark fruit on the palate, impressive concentration, initially very smooth then with more air some of the expected slightly rough tannins appears. Good length. Not much left in the bottle but would be curious to see if it comes together again with more air. Would work just great with steak.

2002 Meyney starts off with earth, barnyard, truffle and tobacco notes. The wine ends with a short finish of cassis, rhubarb and green flavors.

Jancis Robinson June - 2023

Dense core with a slightly brickish rim. Fairly timid nose – some herbaceous notes but no great complexity. Same on the palate. No great excitement but the fruit still there. Acidity quite pronounced, the tannins a touch drying.
