Cellar Tracker November - 2014

Elegant, understated, complex and very good which is not something you hear much about Margaux. Needs at least an hour decant though as there are some of odors on opening.

Wine Spectator March - 2011

This has tasty dark plum, blackberry and warm tobacco notes carried by well-rounded tannins. The finish glides along nicely. Well-done.

Jean-Marc Quarin April - 2009

Beautiful dark and intense color. Discreet nose. The wine is very fruity on the palate with presence. Quite dense, it develops aromatic. The substance is more present than in the past, but the general aromatic atmosphere is a little cold. We'll see what breeding brings. Good length.

Jeannie Cho Lee April - 2009

A medium bodied red that is not that expressive at the moment - faintly aromatic with hint of plums and dark berry fruits. Mid palate lacks density and the palate is dominated by firm, ripe tannins. Wait at least 5+ years before opening.

Château Marquis D'Alesme
Château Marquis D'Alesme
Chateau Marquis d'Alesme Becker, Margaux 3rd Cru. The castle of Marquis Alesme Becker is a vineyard of 15 hectares located in Margaux in Gironde. In Margaux appellation, it is ranked third vintage in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855. The creation of the vineyard dates back to the year 1585. It bears the name of an ancient local family. The first record of the property dates to 1616. Under the First Empire, the estate was sold to a trader Holland, Jean Bekker Terrlink. The name of the latter, Germanized, was added to the founding of the classification of wines of the Medoc in 1855: thus Chateau Marquis d'Alesme Becker was listed as the third Grand Cru Classe. In 1938, Edmond Ritz, mining engineer, came from Alsace, bought the property, then inherited by his small son, Jean Claude Zuger. Perrodo Hubert (1944-2006), French industrialist, owner of the cru bourgeois Chateau Margaux Labégorce, acquired the winery in 2006. In the first time a team has been recreated and extensive work has been undertaken: planting, trellising, drainage and return to traditional tillage. Everything is made to ensure the rebirth and the future of a great wine, while respecting its traditions, the value of its land and the modernization of its production. Since the death of Hubert Perrodo in 2006, the properties of the Hubert Family Perrodo Margaux are managed by Nathalie Perrodo.
