(8-1994) The true glories of Marques de Murrieta are the red wines. The just-released, still young and unevolved 1990 Rioja Reserva is dominated by American oak. It offers a healthy dark ruby color as well as a tremendous amount of fruit and purity. Unless you enjoy copious quantities of wood, I recommend cellaring it for another 2-3 years. Like all of these wines, it possesses an ageless quality and will undoubtedly last for 20 years.
