Expert's opinions

Information on the vintage 1969 red Burgundy: I think it took a little time to realise that this was by far the finest of the unusually good trip: 1969, 1970, 1971.

Domaine Leroy

In 1868, François Leroy founded Maison Leroy. One of his descendants, Henri, bought half of the Romanée-Conti vineyard in 1942, an estate with great notoriety whose wines are still famous throughout the world.

In 1971, his daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy took over the management of Maison Leroy and was also co-manager of the Romanée Conti estate from 1974 to 1992. It was not until 1988 that the estate was created in the Côtes-de Nuit appellation. after purchasing the vines from Domaine Noëllat and from Domaine Philippe Rémy. From September 1988, all of the estate's vines were cultivated and cared for using biodynamic methods.

Today, Maison Leroy produces Premier Crus and Grands Crus in prestigious appellations such as Chambolle-Musigny, Musigny Grand Cru, Volnay-Santenots, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-RomanéeRichebourg and Clos-Vougeot. The production of these great wines places the Leroy estate among the best wine producers in Burgundy.
