Expert's opinions

Information on the vintage 1969 red Burgundy: I think it took a little time to realise that this was by far the finest of the unusually good trip: 1969, 1970, 1971.

Domaine Leroy
Domaine Leroy

In 1868, François Leroy founded Maison Leroy. One of his descendants, Henri, purchased half of the Romanée-Conti vineyard in 1942, an estate with great renown whose wines remain famous throughout the world.

In 1971, her daughter Lalou Bize-Leroy took over the management of Maison Leroy and was also co-manager of the Domaine de la Romanée Conti from 1974 to 1992. It was only in 1988 that the estate was established under the Côtes-de-Nuit appellation after purchasing the vineyards of Domaine Noëllat and Domaine Philippe Rémy. Since September 1988, all the estate's vineyards have been cultivated and maintained using biodynamic methods.

Today, Maison Leroy produces Premier Crus and Grand Crus in prestigious appellations such as Chambolle-Musigny, Musigny Grand Cru, Volnay-Santenots, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Richebourg and Clos-Vougeot. The production of these great wines places Domaine Leroy among the best wine producers in Burgundy.
