Red. Dark. Intense. Evolved. Brown, but still bordeaux. Bright. Good intensity for a 76. Nose. Clean. Notes of caramel, dried fruits, cedar and licorice. Swirling. Clean. Intense. Without heaviness. Same register with a note of ink. Soft and fluid attack developing on a structure initially rich which evolves towards increasingly marked tannic impressions, slightly dry. Finish where the richness returns on flavors of caramel and dried fruits. Fairly long persistence but there is a lack of harmony between tannin and structure.

Firm, strict and stoic in its character, the wine is medium bodied and shows more cedar, tobacco, smoke, earth and cigar box notes than fruit. The wine is starting to dry out. Drink up.

One of the more successful wines of the vintage, this wine was drinkable when released in 1979. The wine still possesses an attractive rubygarnet color, and a spicy, roasted nose of jammy fruit, minerals, and spice. The flavors have become slightly disjointed, with the alcohol, acidity, and tannin beginning to peek through the wine's fruit.

Château Léoville Las Cases is one of the most emblematic estates of the Saint-Julien appellation, recognized for the precision, depth and longevity of its wines. Classified as Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has distinguished itself for over a century through a level of excellence and quality consistency that places it at the top of the Médoc hierarchy.
Originating from the former Léoville estate, the Château Léoville Las Cases vineyard is today protected by a historic enclosure, a rare singularity in Bordeaux, guaranteeing a strong parcel identity. Located immediately bordering the Gironde, facing the great terroirs of Pauillac, the estate benefits from a privileged environment, conducive to slow and homogeneous ripening of the grapes.
The blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, gives the wines a deep structure and remarkable aging potential.
