Information on the year : the decade's best vintage.
The grapes were saved from a 2 month drought by September rain. An abundant harvest, very good wines. Now risky, but the best kept still drinking well.

The Chateau Leoville Barton is a vineyard located in the heart of Saint-Julien, in the Gironde. Benefiting from the name of the town from which it comes, it is classified Grand Cru classification II 1855. The Leoville Barton's 45ha vineyard is comprised of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. It is a wonderful terroir known as the best in the world for growing vines and it enjoys ideal weather conditions. . Aging: 18-20 months in oak barrels 60% new oak. .  . . Without a chateau on the estate, the wine is aged in the traditional way at the winery's sister estate, Langoa-Barton. Leoville Barton regularly outperforms despite identical varieties and vinification. Well balanced, this wine is powerful and its generous character is considered one of the best in  St Julien.
