Tom Cannavan (01-2003) Yet again Barton shows its class. A fragrant cassis and cedar nose. The palate is very elegant and showing the harmony lacking in other St. Julien wines. Lots of cedar and blackcurrant fruits, so much sophistication and class. Superb wine.

(03-2012) Deep crimson with a little evolution at the rim. Meaty, concentrated nose. Uncompromisingly dry but the tannins are not too painful. Just starting to come round and really not that different from this wine in a more successful vintage. But strictly for classicists.

(03-2012) Dark, intense and beautiful color. Deep nose, ripe fruity and vanilla. Beautiful entry in the mouth where the wine develops tasty, aromatic and juicy present with taste. Enveloped tannicity. Nice, fairly powerful finish. It’s a very nice 2002. Magnum recommended.
