This wine pours light garnet In the glass with medium bricking. The nose isn’t super expressive but gradually unfurls to show hints of gravel, plum tobacco, green plant stem, and violets. The palate shows the sternness of the vintage with medium plus tannin, and medium acid. The finish is certainly a tad clipped with some of the irony character that can mar older bordeaux. All in all this turned out to be drinking decently well. While its not winning any awards, there was pleasure to be had in this drinking experience.

This wine possesses one of the most exaggerated aromatic profiles of the vintage. The 1975 Lascombes reveals a herbaceous, gingery, minty, spiced tea-like nose that readers will either detest or find interesting. Tannic and loosely jointed, this fully mature wine (there is considerable amberorange at the edge) exhibits the vintage's tell-tale tannin and structure, but the fruit is sweet and ripe.

Information on the vintage 1975 red Bordeaux: Unquestionably better than the three prededing vintage and certainly interesting, not to say challenging. The summer heat and the dryness, whilst helping the sugar content, thickened the skins. It resulted in wines of good fruit with high alcohol content, dark colour and high tannins. It was, still is, the latter which has caused the controversy.

Château Lascombes

Château Lascombes is a wine estate located in Margaux, Gironde. In the Médoc AOC, it is classified as a Second Growth in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification.

The 50 hectares of Château Lascombes vineyard (55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot) benefit from deep gravel terroirs. Every year, Château Lascombes estate practices green harvesting to improve the quality of the wines, achieving greater concentration. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with malolactic fermentation of Merlots in barrels. The wine is aged for 18 months in 60% new oak barrels, followed by egg white fining.
