(1998) At its best, always consistently more masculine and assertive then its 1er cru neighbour, deep in colour, its bouquet distinctive, strong with whiffs of cedar, liquorice, molasses, spice and mocha. On the palate sweet, rich, earthy with marvellous velvety texture, 'toasted bracken, dry leaves and tobacco'.

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the most emblematic estates of Pessac-Léognan, recognized for the depth, longevity and singularity of its red and white wines. Classified as Cru Classé de Graves, the château shares with its illustrious neighbor Château Haut-Brion an ancient history and an exceptional terroir, while asserting its own stylistic identity, often described as more powerful and more earthy.

Planted on deep gravel soils mixed with clays and sands, the vineyard benefits from a grape variety dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the reds, complemented by Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc for the whites.
