Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Monumental stuff in every way, the blockbuster 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Le Clos du Caillou has put on even more richness and weight than when I tasted it on release. Inky colored, it offers up extraordinary aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, black cherry, crushed rocks, spring flowers and melted licorice to go with a full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, dense and layered profile on the palate. It needs to be tasted to be believed. Forget it for another 4-5 years, at which point it will evolve gracefully for another two decades. It’s that good.

Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate edge lightening. Inviting dark berry fruit, juicy heart cherries, fine spices and herbal nuances, a touch of sandalwood, mineral nuances, delicate chocolate touch, attractive bouquet. Juicy, great extract sweetness, elegant, fine, perfectly integrated tannins, seems almost light-footed thanks to its finesse acid structure, fine spice, sweet aftertaste, sticks very well, notes of cherries and ripe plums in the aftertaste, white pepper in the finish, safe aging potential.

Stunning aromas and flavors of cassis, plum eau de vie and mulled blackberry fruit roll out, with notes of violet, pastis, apple wood and fruitcake all coursing through the dense finish. Terrific grip is thoroughly embedded. Should cruise in the cellar. Best from 2015 through 2030.

Mid crimson. Broad, warm, spicy and alluring on the nose. Hint of cocoa powder but lots of freshness too. Very glamorous and appealing. Lift and polish but masses of character and good structure under all that ripe fruit with herbal topnotes. I like!! Finishes stony – or do I mean quartzy? Manages to be both racy and voluptuous. Zesty, almost citrus peel finish. Such a flirt of a wine!
