Wine Enthusiast January - 2003

The aromas are all dominated by new wood. But to taste, this super cru bourgeois is all about fruit. It is sweet, generous, not having typical Saint-Estèphe tannins, but showing more elegance. A great success.

Dark, intense and evolved color. Fruity nose, but also oaky. Caressing, juicy, aromatic palate, presenting a truffled note on the finish and a rather noble texture. Good length.

Always a high achiever. Rich red, with spice, vanilla and plummy character. Full- to medium-bodied, with plenty of rounded tannins and a medium finish. Bit tough now, but better with time.

La Revue du Vin de France
RVF Magazine This is a very tender and light Haut-Marbuzet for the vintage, with a half-powered palate. The finish is both delicate and silky, but not very intense. It can be drunk now.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
From one of my favorite chateaux, Haut Marbuzet's 2000 is a modest disappointment. The wine lacks fat and substance, and comes across as somewhat woody, without the concentration and flesh one would expect from this well-run estate. The 2000 has a deep ruby color and a sweet nose of currants, plums, and cranberries intermixed with plenty of toasty vanilla.

Château Haut Marbuzet

Château Haut-Marbuzet is a 61-hectare wine estate owned by the Duboscq family, located in Saint-Estèphe. It is a Médoc AOC and is classified as an exceptional Cru Bourgeois. The work of the Duboscq family has made Château Haut-Marbuzet a wine of the highest quality among Saint-Estèphe wines. Château Haut Marbuzet is also full of charm in its youth, developing wonderful spicy notes and red fruit aromas. Considered by some as the most Burgundian of Bordeaux wines, Château Haut Marbuzet was designated as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel during the revision of the Crus Bourgeois classification in June 2003.
