Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
This wine was a big, rich fruit bomb in its youth, revealing notions of tapenade, olives, and herbs. It has always been delicious, and continues to display glorious levels of fruit, attractive, sweet tannin, and a velvety texture. I mistakenly thought it would be in its grave five or six years ago. Consistently pleasurable and hedonistic, and at the same time gaining complexity, it is fully mature and I don’t think it will evolve any further ... but I said the same thing 10-15 years ago.

Château Gloria
Château Gloria was born after World War II from Henri Martin's desire, then mayor of Saint-Julien, to create a renowned estate. Upon his death in 1991, his son-in-law Jean-Louis Triaud took over.Château Gloria is a 44-hectare wine estate in the Médoc, located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle in Gironde. It is a Saint-Julien AOC.On soil made of Günzian gravel, the vineyard is planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. It spans 44 hectares. The vineyard is established on sedimentary rock. Homogeneous on the surface with a sea of pebbles, the subsoil reveals a complexity that creates the variety of Saint-Julien wines. The wines of Château Gloria have an intense and dark color, the 2006 vintage exhales powerful aromas of black fruits. The palate reveals notes of spices, blackcurrant, and chocolate. The finish is pure and long.
