Barrel sample. A solid, wood and fruit balanced wine, foursquare and chunky. It has a firm backbone of tannins, and the dark plum and fig fruits match well with final lift of acidity.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux

Jean-Marc Quarin April - 2009
Jean-Marc Quarin
Last year, the 2007 was on the verge of maturity. This year, this wine ranks among the most successful in Margaux and the Médoc. For the first time, Didier Foret, the director, carried out very extensive parcel-by-parcel harvesting. The estate experienced neither frost nor hail. The color is beautiful, dark and intense. Fruity nose, somewhat discreet, but refined. The entry on the palate is distinguished by a fine pulp and the wine develops aromatically, with a particularly refined texture. Very charming, flavorsome, with depth of flavor, it finishes long and silky, with a very fine balance and fine tannins. Pure pleasure! Blend: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Selection 55% grand vin.

Showing some maturity in color and in the nose, you can find truffle, tobacco, cedar and spicy, bright red fruits. The wine is fresh and sweet on the attack. The finish is crisp with some herbs along with the fruits in the finish.

Wine Spectator March - 2011

Ce vin présente un cœur solide de prune noire et de cassis chaud, avec une minéralité élégante et une touche d'expresso en finale. Un peu ferme, il est néanmoins plus charnu que la plupart de ses pairs de ce millésime.

Jeannie Cho Lee June - 2015

Closed flavors with tannins that are dense and quite prominent. Cocoa, dark berries and plum with astringent tannins in the finish. I hope the tannins resolve over time. At the moment they dominate the wine. Too young, needs a few more years.

It has developed into an incredibly classic, perfectly balanced, dense yet robust, elegant and compact wine that will age beautifully.

Jancis Robinson March - 2018

Dégusté à l'aveugle. Robe rubis foncé. Nez peu intense, mais très élégant et frais. À déguster en raison de sa charge importante de tanins fins, mais beaucoup de choses à apprécier.

Château Giscours
Château Giscours

Château Giscours is a Bordeaux wine estate located in Labarde in Gironde. Château Giscours produces wines under the AOC Margaux appellation. It is ranked among the Third Growth (Grand Cru Classé) in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification, and is one of the most important estates in the Médoc. The vineyard spans nearly 86 hectares within a 300-hectare property. Giscours thus continues the legacy of generations of winemakers, making this estate a world-renowned Grand Cru.

Note the existence of an impeccable second wine: La Sirène de Giscours.

The best vintages of Giscours are the 1945 wines, the 1961, 1982, and 1989 vintages which are excellent. Finally, the 1990 vintage, the 2000 and 2009 grand crus, as well as the 2015 vintage are among the Château's greatest achievements.
