Durfort Viviens

The castle-DURFORT VIVENS owes its name to Durfort Duras, powerful family in the South-west that moved to the the Margaux appellation in the fourteenth century. In 1824, Viscount Vivens added his name to that of Durfort. The reputation of the estate at its peak : the 1844 vintage was sold at a higher price than all other second growths of Margaux. Thanks to Lucien Lurton, beginning in 1961, the vintage has found acclaim. His son, Gonzague Lurton, the current owner, has chosen to exalt a little more each year the qualities of the mythical land of Margaux. The vintages 1982, 1986, 1989 and 2001 have particularly received very good reviews from the magazine Wine Spectator.
