What a wonderful wine, and the reason why bordeaux is so special. Part of the 2001 late release edition, so has a new cork, the wine was crystal clear and sediment free. You would never guess this was a 50+ year old wine from its looks. A wonderful mature nose that is warm and full of tobacco. To drink, this is so smooth and so elegant. It was just so easy to consume.

Information on the 1966 Bordeaux red vintage: 4/5 One of my favorite vintages that I've always described as a "lean long distance runner."

Durfort Viviens
Château DURFORT-VIVENS owes its name to the Durfort de Duras, a powerful family from southwestern France who settled in Margaux in the 14th century. In 1824, Viscount de Vivens added his name to Durfort. The estate's reputation reached its peak: the 1844 vintage was sold at a higher price than all Second Growths in the Margaux appellation. Thanks to Lucien Lurton, from 1961 onwards, the grand cru regained its noble status. His son, Gonzague Lurton, the current owner, has chosen to enhance the qualities of the mythical Margaux terroir more and more each year. The 1982, 1986, 1989, and 2001 vintages particularly received excellent reviews from Wine Spectator magazine.
