Wine Spectator October - 1994
Wine Spectator
This has a wonderful presence. Perhaps the finest wine ever produced by this estate. Velvety, plummy, minty character; full-bodied with full silky tannins. Finesse all the way. Better after 1998.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The 1985 Duhart is a fine, medium-bodied wine that is showing slightly less intensity from the bottle than from cask. Medium deep ruby, with an open-knit, spicy oak, curranty bouquet, elegant and stylish, the 1985 could use more depth, but for drinking over the next decade, it is a fine choice.

The grand vin of Château Duhart-Milon is often described as a refined classic model of the Pauillac appellation, presenting a "reserved distinction with finesse". The assessment by broker Abraham Lawton, as early as 1815, "...it presents itself with much firmness, good color and pronounced sap", is an illustration of the enduring character of Château Duhart-Milon (the "sap" of the Médoc first growths is beautifully defined as "something of the odor that the best sealing wax gives off when burning").
