Jean-Marc Quarin March - 1993
Jean-Marc Quarin
Dark red color. Garnet. Medium intensity. Bright and beautiful. Nose of medium intensity. Fresh fruit with a note of cedar. Soft and understated attack, developing on a medium intensity structure, with an elegant tactile contact. Juicy, fruity and well-balanced tannins. Silky, subtle, woven and rather aromatic finish. Good persistence.

Falstaff January - 2010

Intense carmine garnet, ruby reflections, a broad rim. On the nose delicate plum compote, subtle dried fruit and orange zest, with a hint of caramel and nougat. On the palate medium texture, fine red berry fruit, fresh acidity, a medium-bodied, clean food pairing, uncomplicated, delicate cherry finish and floral nuances on the aftertaste.

Nice black cherry and tobacco flavors, quite velvety in the mouth.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
As one might expect, this is rather thin on the nose, very earthy but that said, less “green” than expected with strong, almost over-powering sous-bois characters and a touch of tomato vine. The palate is nicely defined with a modicum of freshness, but it is very sharp and rather hollow on the finish, the fruit long ebbed away if there was much to start with.

Château Ducru Beaucaillou
Château Ducru Beaucaillou

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the most illustrious estates of the Saint-Julien appellation, classified Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855. Located on deep gravel overlooking the Gironde estuary, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou owes its name to the "beautiful pebbles," those characteristic quartz stones that ensure perfect drainage and ideal thermal retention, essential conditions for the maturity of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Founded in the 18th century and acquired by the Borie family in 1941, the estate is now managed by Bruno-Eugène Borie, who has profoundly strengthened the stylistic identity of the cru. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou has established itself as one of the most refined signatures of Saint-Julien, sought after for the precision of its aging, the exceptional quality of its fruit, and the nobility of its tannins.

The vineyard sits on Günzian gravel ridges among the finest in the Médoc. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by Merlot, the blend produces wines of great depth, combining density, freshness, and structure. The aging in French oak barrels, perfectly mastered, supports the structure without masking the expression of the terroir.

Vintages such as Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1982, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1995, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1996, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2005, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2003 or Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2014 illustrate the consistency and exceptional aging potential of the estate, now considered a major reference among the great collectible wines of Bordeaux.
