(2-1988) Uncanny balance of power and delicacy, with cherry and smoke and hints of v ine from start to finish.

(4-1992) This offering has an absolutely glorious nose of oriental spices, sweet black fruits, smoke, and earth. In the mouth, it is opulent and rich, with super-ripe fruit and a silky texture. This fabulous wine is showing even better than I would have thought.

Domaine Romanée Conti
Domaine Romanée Conti

The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is one of the most iconic wine estates in Burgundy and an absolute benchmark among the great wines of the world. Its history is intimately linked to the finest climates of Vosne-Romanée, of which it is the exclusive or near-exclusive custodian. The estate produces notably exceptional grands crus, among which Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Grands Échézeaux, Échézeaux, as well as the celebrated Montrachet for white wines.

La Romanée-Conti, a Grand Cru classified vineyard, forms the historical and symbolic heart of the estate. Property of the domaine since the 18th century, this monopole vineyard embodies an exacting vision of wine, founded on precision, faithfulness to the terroir, and an extremely rigorous approach to viticulture. The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is renowned for its constant pursuit of balance and purity of expression, favoring very low yields and meticulous work in the vineyard.

Iconic vintages such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1942, the 1945 wine, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1986, the 1990 vintage, the year 2000, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 2005, Romanée-Conti 2011, illustrate the estate's ability to produce wines of remarkable depth, capable of spanning decades while retaining an exceptional clarity of origin. The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti thus remains an essential reference for understanding the excellence and singularity of the great wines of Burgundy.
