Pale gold but deeper than the 2002. Intense and complex aromas of honey, brioche and baked apples/peaches. Again a hint of ginger and baking spice. That cedary note that I found on the nose in the 2002 is here on the palate, very delicately. Rich and honeyed. Deep and quite broad but the acidity brings harmony to that richness. Open and generous.

Deutz's top cuvée is as good as ever. Bottle aging has helped it to throw off its youthful awakwardness and develop a rounded, ripe style that is now a pleasure to drink. Pear and apricot flavors are still vibrant, along with a hint of toast Finely structured and elegant, it's wonderful to drink now, but it will be good at least until 2018.
