Expert's opinions

91-(6-2003) Delas’ luxury cuvee is top-flight, even in the challenging 2001 vintage. The inky-colored 2001 Hermitage Les Bessards boasts pure cassis notes intermixed with hints of licorice and tar. Sweet, ripe, concentrated, full-bodied, and impressively endowed, it is only for readers with cold cellars and considerable discipline as 5-7 years of cellaring will be warranted.

Maison Delas Frères

The Maison Delas et frères was founded in 1835 in Tournon-sur-Rhône. Managed by the Delas family until 1977, the estate was then acquired by the family-owned company Champagnes Deutz.

It is therefore Fabrice who is now at the helm of Deutz/Delas.

The Domaine Delas Frères operates several plots in different appellations. The estate currently comprises 32 hectares: 10 hectares in Hermitage, 17 hectares in Crozes-Hermitage, and 2 hectares in Saint-Joseph. The Domaine owns vines that are approximately 40 years old and carries out its harvests by hand.
