Cos d'Estournel 1985 is a fairly fragrant, smooth and unctuous wine thanks to its thick texture. A warm classified growth, to be shared. The Cos d'Estournel is of great finesse with well-integrated tannins.

(10-2000) A lovely wine. For me a perfect Cos, even from the start. This is what a claret is all about. Drink now or keep it five-ten years.
(12-2014)
(03-2009) Tasted at the Cos d’Estournel dinner at St. John. Compared to the ’82, this is obviously lighter and less complex, aromas of smoky bacon crisps, chestnut, charcoal and autumn bonfire. A little dusty but it has good definition. Medium-bodied on the palate, very smooth, much fleshier than the ’86, very seductive although it does not aspire to be an intellectual wine. Yet it has that caressing texture, touches of wild strawberry, liquorice and saddle-leather towards the finish and a dash of white pepper on the aftertaste. A comely Saint Estephe, although it will not get any better. Drink now-2015. Tasted March 2009.
(09-1996) Dark, rich and deeply concentrated. California-like, with its opulent coffee, herb, cedar, currant, coffee, mineral and spice flavors. Reaching a nice drinking plateau, but has substance, depth and a long, full finish.
