Jancis Robinson March - 2010

Dark ruby fading to brick. Very recognisably St-Estèphe, even after 81 years. Firm and relatively light bodied with a recognisable structure and strong minerality. Very clean and brisk but with the lovely undertow of a great, ripe vintage which has presumably allowed it to last all these years. Wonderfully complete. A real vindication of how long lived and complex red bordeaux can be. A neat, dry finish after a great array of fine fruit. Really very fine.

Neal Martin - Vinous Magazine - With exceptional finesse, Cos d'Estournel 1929 still exhibits its immense qualities. With its intense and fresh nose at the same time, of great spicy elegance, with its clean and complex mouth to finish gently and its intense length, it is unanimous. As we can see with other vintages (1947/1949 or 1959/1961), it would seem that the man knew how to draw lessons from the 1928 vintage to create a wine that further magnified the terroir.

Light color. Nose. Slightly oxidized. Tired. Melted and long palate with a lively touch and magical tannin. Cedar, tobacco, blackcurrant, brown sugar.
