Jancis Robinson
(2010) Looks and smells quite old and light with a certain sweetness. Fully evolved, and probably not flattered by Chez Bruce's deliciously buttery but highly spiced cheese shortbreads. A lttle flabby abd lacking freshness. Light. Sweet and chaptalised.

Château La Conseillante
Château La Conseillante

The name La Conseillante first appeared in the mid-18th Century. It was inherited from an influential person who managed the property almost 300 years ago: Catherine Conseillan.

On the Pomerol plateau with a clay-gravel soil with iron deposits in the subsoil, the wine comes from a grape variety that certainly values Merlot (70%), but Cabernet Franc, at 25%, gives the wines a particular freshness, complexity and richness.

La Conseillante with its purple capsule recalls the characteristic perfume of the wine. These elements chosen in 1871 by the Nicolas brothers remain elegantly modern at the dawn of the 21st Century. Since that year, the fifth generation of the Nicolas family has been managing the Château.
