Jean-Marc Quarin November - 2013

Very lovely fragrant wine which opens with aromatic notes reminiscent of clay, undergrowth and fruit. The body is tender, flavorful, caressing, perfumed. Long finish with fine-grained tannin. Pure pleasure.

Tom Cannavan January - 2005

Sweet fudge-like notes of caramel and toffee oak are present, with little floral, violet and intense blue/black fruit notes emerging. On the palate that custardy quality of oak is layered over the fruit at present, with a dark, bold, bittersweetness of chocolate and intense blueberry fruit beneath. Grippy and intense, this has lots of concentration and a solidity to the fruit that is very appealing. Good structure too, in an impressive package.

Lightness is showing through in the garnet color. The truffle, licorice, plum liqueur, cherry blossom and spice box aromas are the best part of the wine. Medium bodied, with an elegant, fresh, ready to drink, spicy, red berry personality.

Château La Conseillante
Château La Conseillante

The name La Conseillante first appeared in the mid-18th Century. It was inherited from an influential person who managed the property almost 300 years ago: Catherine Conseillan.

On the Pomerol plateau with a clay-gravel soil with iron deposits in the subsoil, the wine comes from a grape variety that certainly values Merlot (70%), but Cabernet Franc, at 25%, gives the wines a particular freshness, complexity and richness.

La Conseillante with its purple capsule recalls the characteristic perfume of the wine. These elements chosen in 1871 by the Nicolas brothers remain elegantly modern at the dawn of the 21st Century. Since that year, the fifth generation of the Nicolas family has been managing the Château.
