Optimal maturity between 2013 and 2050
This year, flowering was quick and fruit set was perfectly successful, confirming predictions of a generous harvest. Summer weather conditions were typical. At the end of August, the prospect of a great vintage became possible. September, hot and dry, was therefore decisive, as so often happens in Bordeaux. As a result, it allowed regular and complete ripening of all grape varieties.
Château Margaux 2004 is intriguing and captivating on the nose with a blend of gourmet, floral and spicy aromas that bring perfect balance. This first growth is of great finesse and above all of great purity. This wine can be drunk now, although it promises a very beautiful future.

This bottle was rocking! The finest example of this I have ever tasted. There was polish, elegance, grace and finesse in its stylings. Silky tannins, fresh, dark red fruits, espresso, spice and floral essences were all over the place. There was richness, length and sweet, ripe fruits in the polished finish. I am sure another 5 years in the bottle, if you have patience will only add more to the wine.

Dark ruby. First impression is mocha, and toast, becoming more savoury and tobacco leaf with air. A bit lean in the middle, very fresh, tannins feel quite tight, dry and a bit furry, the finish also rather tied up by those tannins, which are dry at the very end. Really not sure how this is going to age – the tannins seem to need more time but the fruit is already a bit slight on the mid palate.

This dark crimson-coloured wine has a very classy and classic nose, rippling with cedar and smooth, unruffled berry fruit, and with a touch of leafy and earthy character. On the palate it is medium--bodied and very typically Margaux, with elegant but fleshy blackcurrant and raspberry fruit and hints of exotic spice. The tannin and acid balance is very good, and this is crisp and fresh on the finish, but there is a substantial weight too in a hugely impressive and very genuine claret at the price.

Château Margaux is one of the greatest wine estates in Bordeaux. In AOC, Margaux is listed among the First Growth wines in the official 1855 Médoc classification.

If it is a privilege to bear the name of its Margaux appellation, there is no doubt that Château Margaux does great honor to it.

For several centuries, this Premier Cru Classé has expressed to the highest degree the exceptional qualities of terroirs patiently gathered by several generations of owners. Maintained and harvested exclusively by hand with extreme care, the 78 hectares of vines (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) draw their richness very deeply from a particularly dense and thick clay-gravel soil.

Fermentation in oak vats, after which the wine is strictly selected, is followed by 18 to 24 months of aging in new oak barrels. A masterpiece among Bordeaux wines, considered by some to be the best, Château Margaux reveals finesse and opulence, depth and complexity in tasting, and develops a bouquet of rare elegance with notes of rose, violet, and black fruits, underpinned by tight tannins that require patient aging before reaching their full potential. The château also produces a second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a dry white wine, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux (100% Sauvignon Blanc).
