PAVILLON BLANC du Château Margaux 1995

This year, bud burst and flowering were early and even. With a summer worthy of that of a very great vintage, hot and very dry and the rains of September, the grapes reached perfect ripening.
1995 is an excellent vintage of Pavillon Blanc, the most powerful since 1989. Pavillon Blanc 1995 du Château Margaux is now reaching its peak, but there is no rush to drink it.

(4-1997) Yellow-green. Pale. Clean. Medium intensity. Fresh. Ditto. Fresh. Melting, flavorful and silky on the finish. Resembles the style of Haut-Brion. It's delicious but this freshness seems fragile. Very baby skin. Good persistence.

Oppinion of Chateau Margaux, May 2011: 1995 is a truly great vintage wine which bears all the marks: power, depth, richness, complexity, subtlety and harmony. Today the nose is not really closed but still full of restraint: the flavors are there, but somewhat in the shadows. On the palate, it is obviously the dominating power, the tannins are dense, tight, firm but not hard. It would take another few years before you start drinking this wine with superb balance is the guarantee of a harmonious evolution.

Château Margaux
Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the most prestigious estates of the Margaux appellation and a major historical figure of Bordeaux excellence. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé during the official 1855 classification, the château relies on a terroir of fine and deep gravels that favors the expression of a wine of rare elegance and great aromatic complexity.

The Grand Vin of Château Margaux has been recognized since the 17th century as one of the most accomplished expressions of the Bordeaux vineyard. It owes its qualities to the combination of an exceptional terroir, demanding viticulture and vinification work oriented towards precision and balance. Tannic finesse, aromatic depth, freshness and length on the palate constitute the constant markers of the Margaux style.

Iconic vintages such as Château Margaux 1899, Château Margaux 1949, Château Margaux 1953, Château Margaux 1982, Château Margaux 1990, Château Margaux 1990, Château Margaux 2000 or the iconic Château Margaux 2015 illustrate the estate's capacity to produce wines of great complexity, capable of evolving harmoniously over several decades, while maintaining a remarkable readability of their terroir.
