CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 1999

The climatic conditions of the 1999 vintage at Château Margaux are identical to the previous vintage. With very dry weather, allowing the grapes to reach an exceptional level in terms of maturation and concentration.
Château Margaux 1999 has all the characteristics of a good wine: softness, balance, fat which brings roundness, supple and fine, but which is also accentuated by a certain power. A quality Grand Cru Classé that may surprise us for decades to come.

. Tasted at the 1999 horizontal at Bordeaux Index. This Chateau Margaux was captivating in its youth and at ten-years of age it displays a wonderful, exuberant bouquet with blackberry, violet, boysenberry, a touch of spice and smoke. The palate is full-bodied, great depth and breadth with firm tannins, there is a real backbone to this Margaux, struck through with a tangible sense of mineralite that sends a tingle down the spice. It does actually take time to coalesce in the glass but it ultimately seduces the palate with its wily feminine charms. Lovely. Drink 2013-2030. Tasted June 2009.

(2001). Attractive fruit and oak nose; after three hours positively exotic, full of fruit and oak but well integrated. Most recently, an amazing fragrance; very sweet, chewy but alongside the 2000 a touch of rawness. .

Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the most prestigious estates of the Margaux appellation and a major historical figure of Bordeaux excellence. Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé during the official 1855 classification, the château relies on a terroir of fine and deep gravels that favors the expression of a wine of rare elegance and great aromatic complexity.

The Grand Vin of Château Margaux has been recognized since the 17th century as one of the most accomplished expressions of the Bordeaux vineyard. It owes its qualities to the combination of an exceptional terroir, demanding viticulture and vinification work oriented towards precision and balance. Tannic finesse, aromatic depth, freshness and length on the palate constitute the constant markers of the Margaux style.

Iconic vintages such as Château Margaux 1899, Château Margaux 1949, Château Margaux 1953, Château Margaux 1982, Château Margaux 1990, Château Margaux 1990, Château Margaux 2000 or the iconic Château Margaux 2015 illustrate the estate's capacity to produce wines of great complexity, capable of evolving harmoniously over several decades, while maintaining a remarkable readability of their terroir.
