CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 1997

The beginning of the year was particularly dry and hot with an early but very spread out flowering. Fortunately, from the beginning of September, very dry and hot weather set in and lasted until the end of the harvest.
The vintage is 1997 is a rather mixed vintage. However, Château Margaux 1997 has stood out and produced a quality Grand Cru Classé. Elegant, harmonious, Château Margaux 1997 is a very balanced cru when tasted. Drink now, or keep for several more decades in the cellar to reveal all these aromas.

Wine Spectator
All in finesse, with berry, currant and light vanilla character. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a fresh finish. Lovely, long finish. Gorgeous core of fruit in this wine.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Undoubtedly a success for the vintage, this immensely charming, dark rubypurple-colored wine exhibits floral, black currant, and smoky, toasty oak aromas. There is admirable richness, excellent ripeness, not a great deal of density, or superb concentration, but plenty of finesse, suppleness, and character.

Château Margaux
Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the greatest wine estates in Bordeaux. In AOC, Margaux is listed among the First Growth wines in the official 1855 Médoc classification.

If it is a privilege to bear the name of its Margaux appellation, there is no doubt that Château Margaux does great honor to it.

For several centuries, this Premier Cru Classé has expressed to the highest degree the exceptional qualities of terroirs patiently gathered by several generations of owners. Maintained and harvested exclusively by hand with extreme care, the 78 hectares of vines (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) draw their richness very deeply from a particularly dense and thick clay-gravel soil.

Fermentation in oak vats, after which the wine is strictly selected, is followed by 18 to 24 months of aging in new oak barrels. A masterpiece among Bordeaux wines, considered by some to be the best, Château Margaux reveals finesse and opulence, depth and complexity in tasting, and develops a bouquet of rare elegance with notes of rose, violet, and black fruits, underpinned by tight tannins that require patient aging before reaching their full potential. The château also produces a second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a dry white wine, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux (100% Sauvignon Blanc).

The greatest vintages of Château Margaux are: 1900, 1928, 1953, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1990
