(5-2009) Still dark crimson with some ruby at the rim. Pure and aromatic and really fresh and vital on the nose. Really quite refreshing, fine boned, tastes as though at its peak though with none of the early austerity. Very pretty. Good balance and vivacity. Medium length. Much less dense and more evolved than the Lynch Bages 1986 tasted alongside it.

The Château Armailhac is an estate of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. It is located in Pauillac. It is a fifth classified growths of Médoc official classification of Bordeaux wines in 1855


Acquired in 1934 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the estate has successively borne the name of Armailhac Mouton, Mouton Baron Philippe, Mouton Baronne Philippe before returning in 1989 to its original name: Armailhac. The style of  Armailhac wines have recently gained depth, power and elegance.
