Perfect looking cork, still dry on most of it's length. Nice nose of cedar/sandalwood/coffee. Red fruited with earthy leathery notes, medium tannins, good acidity, and a subtle but long finish.

Currant and grilled meat, with hints of sweet tobacco on the nose. Full-bodied, with soft and silky tannins, but a little tart on the finish. Falls a little short.

Chasse-Spleen made a good, elegant 1988. Displaying a generous, intense, smoky, blackcurrant bouquet, and chewy, medium-bodied flavors, it has a surprisingly long, spicy, soft finish.

Château Chasse-Spleen is a 105-hectare wine estate. Chasse-Spleen produces one of the most remarkable wines of the Médoc, and certainly of the Moulis en Médoc appellation. The Château is classified as exceptional crus bourgeois in the first edition of the crus bourgeois classification. Located on four plots of quaternary gravel planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot,
The best vintages of Château Chasse-Spleen are 1929, the 1943 wines, 1945 wines, the 1949 vintage and 1953 vintage. The 1982 and 1985 vintages are exceptional and the 1989 wines, 2000 vintage and 2009 are exceptional years.
