(1-2003). Dark red. Good intensity. Beautiful. Bright. Clean. Medium intensity. Fruity. Citrus notes. Then smoky. Round, fruity wine, of normal body, presenting pure red fruit flavors and incense notes. On the finish, its evolution towards a fairly marked tannic persistence slows my desire to rate it higher. It is quite firm. . .

(6-2004). One of the two finest estates of Moulis (the other being Poujeaux), Chasse Spleen’s large vineyard is planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. The ripe, generous 2001 is a chunky, fleshy, deep rubypurple-colored effort revealing good body, moderate tannin, and an earthy, black currant fruitiness offering notions of minerals and tree bark.

(5-2010). Deepish crimson without that much development at the rim. Firm, zesty, almost orange peel nose and then fruit that is just starting to melt and mature. Firm and confident with appealing freshness. Just starting to drink well though it should have many years ahead of it. .

Château Chasse-Spleen is a 105-hectare wine estate. Chasse-Spleen produces one of the most remarkable wines of the Médoc, and certainly of the Moulis en Médoc appellation. The Château is classified as exceptional crus bourgeois in the first edition of the crus bourgeois classification. Located on four plots of quaternary gravel planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot,

The best vintages of Château Chasse-Spleen are 1929, the 1943 wines, 1945 wines, the 1949 vintage and 1953 vintage. The 1982 and 1985 vintages are exceptional and the 1989 wines, 2000 vintage and 2009 are exceptional years.
