Château Cantemerle

Théophile-Jean Dubos, husband of Charlotte Delbos, took over the estate in 1892, with the help of his two sons Pierre and Bernard. Théophile Dubos was simultaneously a winegrower and owner of Cantemerle, vice-president of the Syndicat des crus classés du Médoc, and a merchant of the Dubos Frères house, which was sold in 1914. Upon Théophile's death in 1905, Pierre and Bernard Dubos became co-owners of Cantemerle until 1923, when Pierre became the sole owner. During the war and the crisis years of 1930-1940, many vineyard plots were uprooted at Cantemerle, so that from 1945 onwards, only about 25 hectares were cultivated, which were maintained until 1981. After Pierre Dubos's death in 1962, his grandson Bertrand Clauzel became the sole manager and remained so until the estate was sold in 1981 to the Mutuelles d'Assurance du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics (Building and Public Works Insurance Mutuals).
