Jeff Leve - The Wine Cellar Insider
Charming, elegant, classic, full mature, medium bodied claret, with balance, soft textures, refined tannins and more red than black fruit. This is drinking great today. No hurry to drink it, but no reason to wait either.

This is a marvelously complete wine, with its impressive ripe fruit, shining through the open structure. It is firm, but not too much. Stone black fruits are just perfectly ripe. There is just a core of dryness to compliment the rest of the wine.

Adrian van Velsen - vvWine
Strong ruby red with a slightly watery, light brown rim. Accessible and classic Bordeaux nose of blackberries, black cherries, dried raspberries, herbs, red pepper, tobacco and some leather. On the palate with balanced equilibrium, fine extract sweetness, delicate acidity and medium-bodied structure. Only the tannins seem somewhat powdery and astringent, which gives the wine a slightly rustic touch. The barrique is very well dosed and integrated, providing good harmony and pleasant complexity. Long, elegant finish with notes of red berries and dried herbs. Although there is no rush here, this Branaire-Ducru is already in a very beautiful drinking phase. A classic Bordeaux pleasure at an affordable price and ideal companion to game or a juicy grilled entrecôte.

Château Branaire Ducru
Château Branaire Ducru

Château Branaire Ducru is a fourth growth classified (official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification) from the Saint-Julien appellation in Médoc. The vineyard covers nearly 60 hectares of vines. Château Branaire-Ducru is now one of the jewels of Saint Julien. It is highly sought after for its very pure red fruit. Its typical composition, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, opens with bright aromas of raspberry and blackberry, before becoming more complex on the palate with delicate nuances of mineral, pencil lead, smoke and spring flowers... The Château also produces a second wine: Duluc de Branaire Ducru.

The best vintages of Château Branaire Ducru are 1975, 1982 grand cru wines, 1989, the 1995 vintage and the 1996 vintage. The wines from 2000, 2001, 2003 vintage and 2005 are also exceptional. Finally, the grand crus from 2009, 2010 vintage and the 2015 vintage are great vintages.
