Jean-Marc Quarin September - 2017
Jean-Marc Quarin
The color is dark and evolved towards brown. Moderately aromatic nose, fruity, showing the beginning of an evolved bouquet and an animal note. Palate full of tactile smoothness, accompanied by a very pleasant cedar flavor. The wine caresses and finishes on distinguished tannins and aromas. It is delicious today. Enjoy before 2015.

Fully mature, medium-bodied, soft, bright and with a lean to the cool, red cherry side of the style range. There is ample cedar and tobacco leaf to add complexities.

Pretty raspberry, spice and floral aromas to this red. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a slightly astringent finish. A bit hollow in the midpalate. Give it some time in the bottle.

Rather dull nose and very dusty tannins. I just can't see why anyone would pay this money for this relatively little reward. Sorry. Pretty chewy tannins. Finishes suddenly.

Château Branaire Ducru
Château Branaire Ducru

Château Branaire Ducru is a fourth growth classified (official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification) from the Saint-Julien appellation in Médoc. The vineyard covers nearly 60 hectares of vines. Château Branaire-Ducru is now one of the jewels of Saint Julien. It is highly sought after for its very pure red fruit. Its typical composition, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, opens with bright aromas of raspberry and blackberry, before becoming more complex on the palate with delicate nuances of mineral, pencil lead, smoke and spring flowers... The Château also produces a second wine: Duluc de Branaire Ducru.

The best vintages of Château Branaire Ducru are 1975, 1982 grand cru wines, 1989, the 1995 vintage and the 1996 vintage. The wines from 2000, 2001, 2003 vintage and 2005 are also exceptional. Finally, the grand crus from 2009, 2010 vintage and the 2015 vintage are great vintages.
