It is always interesting to taste a wine from a great vintage, but the château is not considered one of the stars of the region.
This 1949 Bouscaut, qualified 1er Grand Cru de Graves on the label, has been very well conserved. The level is excellent, just underneath the base of the neck.
Beautiful garnet colour, a bit clear and without a trace of evolution. This wine is limpid, of a great purity and very aromatic. A perfume of black fruit jelly-- blueberry, blackberry, very ripe Burlat cherry--very nice.
The mouth is no exception. The tannins have melted (this wine is 65-years-old) and the acidity dominates but the both together is harmonious. The end of the bottle, like always, is much richer.
A truly exceptional wine.
