(8-2003) Clean and fresh, bursting with fruit and spices. Full-bodied, it delivers some game, truffle, vanilla notes. It's distinctive and ought to reveal wonderful terroir with age, but for now it hasn't come together. Needs time.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
Deep garnet colour with a faint touch of brick in the rim. Classic Beaucastel earthymeatygamey nose with an undercurrent of stewed strawberries, Chinese dried plums and soy. Quite elegant on the palate with a medium to full body and a reasonably taut structure of medium to high acidity and a medium level of velvety tannins. Layer upon layer of spices and savoury flavours. Long finish. Drink now to 2024.

(4-2013) The colour is somewhat light for a Chateauneuf. The nose is great : red fruits, fresh, sweet. The mouth is round with well melted tannins. An indulgent drink.

Château de Beaucastel
Château de Beaucastel

The château of Beaucastel is an estate located in Courthezon, a town near Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Vaucluse department. The château is a benchmark in Rhône wines. The château of Beaucastel extends over more than 130 hectares of vines. Three quarters are grown under the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation and the rest is grown under the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation.

In the respect of winegrowing traditions, the castle carries out its harvest exclusively by hand. The grapes are carefully sorted on arrival at the cellar, only the finest grapes will be vinified. All the grape varieties are cuvées separately, each one having its own character, its aromas: Grenache and Cinsault give warmth, color and mellowness, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Muscardin and Vaccarèse: solidity, longevity and a very frank taste. finally Counoise and Picpoul for freshness, and bouquets of particular aromas.

The meticulous work of the Perrin family is different each year and determines the quality, originality and specificity of each vintage. This marriage is the culmination of months of effort, care, loving attention at all times. It is the expression of a terroir in a specific year.
