(04.2009) Powerful, with a round, almost creamy core of blackberry and raspberry fruit all layered with cocoa, sweet toast, mesquite and fig paste. Long and rich through the finish. Still quite primal, with lots in reserve. Best from 2010 through 2030.

Starting to open and show nicely with a nose packed with spicy black raspberry, kirsch, jammy cherries, pepper, earth and garrigue. Rich textures and a long, soft, sweet, earthy, fresh, peppy, kirsch filled sensation make up the finish.

(10.2018) Very attractive overripe fruit aroma with a touch of compost and farmyard – yet not overtly bretty or funky. Balanced, rounded, succulent and finely balanced – this is a great example of the style in the prime of its life, full of fruit but showing tertiary development too.

Robert PARKER - The Wine Advocate
The Beaucastel ’06 has a well defined nose with dark berried fruits, black olive, fennel, sage and a touch of wild honey. It displays superb delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, just a little dryness on the sidelines, perhaps closing down a little with a salty tang on the finish. Very fine.

Château de Beaucastel
Château de Beaucastel

Château de Beaucastel is a wine estate located in Courthezon, a commune near Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Vaucluse department. The château is a reference in Rhône wines. Château de Beaucastel spans over 130 hectares of vineyards. Three-quarters are cultivated under the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation and the rest under the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation.

Respecting winemaking traditions, the château exclusively harvests by hand. The grapes are carefully sorted upon arrival at the cellar, and only the finest grapes will be vinified.

All grape varieties are vinified separately, each having its own character and aromas: Grenache and Cinsault provide warmth, color and smoothness, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Muscardin and Vaccarèse contribute solidity, longevity and a very distinct taste, and finally Counoise and Picpoul bring freshness and unique bouquets of aromas.

The meticulous work of the Perrin family is different each year and determines the quality, originality and specificity of each vintage. This marriage is the culmination of months of effort, care, and loving attention at every moment. It is the expression of a terroir in a specific year.
